Photo Friday: The Friday Night Lights Field

Last week I posted some Austin Teen Book Festival photos, and I left out one big part of the journey: The trek to the Friday Night Lights field! Jenny Han mentioned it early on, and then we talked Corey Whaley into driving us out there. Coe Booth was down for an adventure too (here's a pic of Coe, Corey and me just before we piled into Corey's car.)

Corey shined the headlights on us so we could get this shot while Jenny played the FNL theme on her iPhone:

And not to be a super nerd, but I went back the next morning before I flew out of town. Because, you know, the light was all Texas-y and I had to make sure June got there, in case she's a fan later on:

Happy Friday!

Photo Friday: Austin Teen Book Festival!

So, so much fun. Anyone who hasn't attended the Austin Teen Book Festival should really start planning for next year. Truly. There's a writeup of the festival in Publishers Weekly (along with a pic of me eying John Corey Whaley skeptically, though really he's super amazing and so is his book), so check that out. Some highlights: 2,500 people, $30,000 in books sold, hugging Maureen Johnson (a reader, not me, though I did too). I also got to talk to tons of awesome readers and librarians and authors and publishing types whom I'd otherwise only known through Facebook and Twitter. Loved it. (And Hip Mama Jenn did an amazingly detailed post on my panel, "Life is Messy.")

And okay, the only photos I took were of cookies (above, by Kellie's Kandies--they had our book covers on them!) and decorations (below). Steph Pellegrin made these incredible hair flowers/broaches out of book pages. I'm hoping she opens an etsy shop because: CUTE.

Next week I'll show you the Friday Night Lights field... EPIC.

Happy Friday!

Photo Friday: The Cat Nursery

Swayze is taking over the nursery. That's his weird little duck toy that he's had since Christmas lying on the ground in front of him. He is OBSESSED.

Happy Friday!

PS-For some reason I'm wary of posting too many June pics. Maybe later in life she'll be mad that I did that without her permission? Is that nuts? I like how I'm already thinking about reasons she'll get mad at me later. But right now, she totally loves me.

Photo Friday: L&D

L&D is hospital speak for "Labor & Delivery." One more baby-related week! First, the final photo of me, 9 months pregnant!

And an in-labor shot at home (early on, while I could still smile). Note my Tim Riggins-worn Friday Night Lights tee. It helped me be strong! And so did Dave, of course.

(Here is Tim Riggins in this very shirt on TV! It looks better on him. Am I getting off subject?)

And now, fully on the other side of things, I master the Moby Wrap and can go for Happy Hour again.

I love a happy ending! Have a great weekend!

PS-Can I mention again how much I love my FNL shirt? I bid way too much for it on ebay. It was my baby gift to myself. It came with a certificate of authenticity. It might be my FAVORITE (inanimate) thing this summer.

Photo Friday: More June

I won't make Photo Friday into Baby Friday, I promise. But this? It's really what's going on in my life right now. You know, living in a bathrobe, making sure she eats 8-12 times a day (not kidding!), and watching her sleep and gurgle. So here's one more shot, courtesy of my friend Tom, who has a much better camera than I do:

Is that a head of hair or what?

Happy Friday!

Photo Friday: New Apartment Moments

Just a few scenes from the new 'hood (a mere seven-block move can change the micro-neighborhood feel, I swear). These include: flowers down the block, the farmer's market, Swayze supervising cable set up, cats loving big windows, dappled nursery light, flowers in the new kitchen, an odd knight outside a store nearby and the ever-constant Brooklyn Bridge.

We're moved!

PS-Our gargoyle watches over us still (found this guy on the street like 8 years ago; still love him!)

Happy Friday!

Photo Friday: Birthday and Bump

Today would have been my grandmother Carol's 101st birthday! Here she is graduating from the University of West Virginia:

And, by popular demand, here's a bump photo. I'm 9 months pregnant, people, so the phone photo fuzziness and dark lighting helps. (That's a Carolina Blue vintage mustang Dave and I spotted last night outside the Prospect Park Soiree--love it!).

Happy Fridays!
